Washout: Shor FiltraGold Recovery System

You may ask yourself; why do we need any recovery system for our sink? Well, just think for a moment, every time your polisher washes his hands, he's probably washing a pennyweight or more of gold down the drain. Very quickly that adds up to a respectable amount of money being washed away.

So why this system? You want a system that meets a number of criteria:

First and foremost, it must recover all the gold. There are two ways to achieve that. One way is to use many settling tanks and lots of standing water. This works well but requires a great deal of space and the stagnant water tends to stink. The other way is to have a very fine filter system. These systems require a pump, because any filter that is fine enough to capture all the gold is also so fine that the water will back up and not pass through it unless there is a pump to force the water through the filter. Any system that relies on a filter without a pump is letting most of the gold go down the drain.

  1. Your recovery system must be compact.
  2. It must be easy and inexpensive to maintain.
  3. And last, it should be inexpensive to purchase.

The Shor FiltraGold has all these qualities and much more. In fact, it’s so revolutionary that it’s been granted a patent by the U.S. Patent Office (foreign patents pending). Even installation is easy; out of the box and completely installed in 10 minutes is common.

The FiltraGold incorporate two independent filtration systems. The first (the prefilter) captures the stones and large particles of gold. After passing through the prefilter, the water then activates a pump and its integrated float switch. The pump forces the water through a 10 micron cotton wound filter cartridge which recovers the fine particles of gold.

The Shor FiltraGold takes up only 1 cubic foot of space and fits neatly under your sink (so, in effect, they take up no space at all!)

Average maintenance time is 5-10 minutes, once a week. Cost of replacing the filter cartridge (about once a month) is just $5.

Cost of the standard system (this is the right size for all but large shops) is only $395 complete High volume shops may require a Shor FiltraGold with a more powerful pump.
